THE BUZZ: Resident Evil 6 producer Eiichiro Sasaki has revealed that it will take around 30 hours to complete all three campaigns in the game, making it Capcom’s longest survival horror game to date.

“The three characters each have their own story and you can choose whichever one you want and play that story, experience that character’s story,” he told NowGamer.

Eiichiro also indicated that there will be a lot of shared content between the three main character’s campaigns, and all three stories will overlap when they all reach China.

“In terms of length, each character’s story is a little bit less than RE5 but when you combine them together you’re getting something that is much longer. While each character’s story stands alone, all of the characters wind up in the same area of the game, in China, so there is a certain level of overlap. They stand on their own but they do overlap in certain areas. You don’t have to play them all, of course.”

Yesterday Capcom announced that the game’s release date had been moved forward.

EGM’s TAKE: 30 hours is an awful lot of zombie killing, and will require a lot of suspense and set pieces to keep fans interested. Hopefully there won’t be too much overlapping between the three stories or they will get boring pretty quickly. Capcom should offer some kind of incentive for completing all three campaigns like a secret ending, or we expect the majority of fans to only play through once to see how the story ends. Previous games have been built upon the shock factor, Capcom may find it difficult to keep it fresh over 30 hours of gameplay. We are interested to see how they will pull it off.
