Resident Evil: Damnation Rushing To DVD, Blu-ray This September

Sony Pictures’ and Capcom’s feature-length computer-animated horror 3D film Resident Evil: Damnation is going on a movie tour in Japan, and everyone else will get to share the “fun” one month later on September 25. Leon S. Kennedy returns as the main star, conducting a mission in Eastern Europe in order to investigate a lead on Bio Organic Weapons (B.O.W.s).

Sony and Capcom previously released a similar film project with 2008′s Resident EvilDegeneration, which apparently kicked off a new line of Resident Evil movies that’s going to cycle every few years.

Resident EvilDegeneration made over 40 million yen at the Japanese box office during a short two-week movie tour, and was also screen in a few select theaters in New York and Los Angeles.

According to Andriasang, even the DVD and Blu-ray releases sold 1.6 million copies over two years, which probably means the film studio netted a small profit somewhere down the line.  And I’m betting these are all the same people that go to see the live-action movies starring Milla Jovovich. Spoiler Alert: they’re awful. It’s like those movies are a clever metaphor for the zombie apocalypse.
