Final Fantasy XIV players who have let their subscription lapse can return to the game for free for a limited time, Square Enix has announced.
Until January 4th, 2018, players who previously had a subscription to the game can download and play the base game and any expansions they own for a total of 96 hours. Players must meet the following requirements to be eligible:
- Users who have previously purchased and registered FINAL FANTASY XIV.
- All registered services accounts are set as inactive during the campaign period.
- Registered service account must have been inactive for at least thirty days.
Square Enix notes that players will be automatically logged out of the game once their 96 hours of free time are up and that the time will continuously tick down from the moment a player logs in.
Update 4.15 was released for the game earlier this month that introduced a new PvP mode called Rival Wings and a performance option for the Bard class that allows them to play instruments.
Final Fantasy XIV is available now on PlayStation 4 and PC.
