Xbox One gaming is about to get just a little more leet in October, when Microsoft is reportedly releasing the second iteration of the Xbox One Elite controller.
This news comes courtesy of The Verge senior editor Tom Warren (via Destructoid). Warren doesn’t specifically call the controller Elite v2, but he did reveal that it will cost $149 when it launches, the same price as the current Elite controller.
Chinese website Baidu supposedly leaked the new Xbox One Elite controller back in January, showing off built-in rechargeable batteries, USB Type-C for a faster wired connection, and more, though Microsoft never confirmed the leak to be real. If a new Xbox One Elite controller is indeed in the works, we’d expect to hear more about it during Xbox’s Gamescom 2018 presentation on Tuesday, August 21st at 7:30 a.m. PT alongside new details about State of Decay 2‘s upcoming DLC and Sea of Thieve‘s Forsaken Shores expansion, both of which launching in September.
What would be really neat is if the arrival of a new Elite controller with brand-new bells and whistles meant a price reduction of the current Elite controller, which still retails for $149 at most stores.
