Up to one third of RIFT‘s development team at Trion Worlds has been let go, according to a new report.

One of the affected team members told Gamasutra that around 40 staff members had been let go across several disciplines. The developer confirmed the layoffs stating that they were “in response to market conditions, product timelines and the natural evolution of our company.”

With RIFT’s Storm Legion expansion now out it’s no surprise that some of the team has been let go, there’s simply no need for a large number of staff now the expansion is out the door.
