Trion Worlds is right on the cusp of their “consumer debut” for RIFT: Storm Legion, and the development team is openly talking about all the changes that are coming up in the RIFT expansion. Although more is going to be revealed at Gamescom next week, the return to Telara is already rife with new content, as shown in the latest developer diary.
Touting the expansion’s focus on technology versus fantasy elements, a great deal of footage is shown of new monsters, the Dusken and Brevane continents, plus copious amounts of conceptual artwork.
As Trion Worlds developer Brian Clarke notes, the team regularly works around the clock, notching tweaks and improvements throughout the pack, as the design will be the standard for future RIFT content:
“Our quality level is going to rise. We’re trying to bring in some new feeling to everything. Not just the storyline and gameplay, but we’re trying to bring that into what the players wear and how they look.”
Additional footage complements the stuff we already know: new continents Dusken and Brevane will each greatly expand the RIFT world times over, the level cap is being raised to 60 for each soul, and a new Harbinger soul is being added to the mage mix, with three more to come.
Trion Worlds will also be hosting demos for Defiance, Warface, and End of Nations at their Gamescom booth, but RIFT: Storm Legion will certainly be the centerpiece for their showcase. Check out the trailer below to get a look and hear the development team hype the incoming update.
