Rob Schneider—best known as Deuce Bigalow and the “you can do it” guy from multiple Adam Sandler movies—is making his video game debut in a somewhat surprising franchise: Madden.
Schneider is playing the general manager of the Dallas Cowboys in Madden NFL 19‘s chapter of “Longshot,” the story mode that debuted in last year’s iteration of the series.
This genius casting choice surfaced during EA’s annual Showcase event and was captured by IGN and Shacknews. In all honesty, this might be one of Schneider’s best performances yet as the goofy but level-headed GM.
Madden 19‘s “Longshot: Homecoming” picks up pretty much where last year’s story left off, with the bestie duo of quarterback Devin Wade and wide receiver Colt Cruise trying to find their way into the NFL. This year’s story will kickoff with Wade and Cruise at the Dallas Cowboys training camp, even while “off the field obligations tear [Cruise] further away from his dream” of playing in the big leagues. “Longshot” was one of the best parts about Madden 18, so it’ll be interesting to see if EA Tiburon can keep the momentum going with “Homecoming,” or if it will sort of waver and lose focus like the second chapter of FIFA’s “The Journey” mode.
Madden NFL 19 launches on August 10th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. In the meantime, you can check out all of the game’s player ratings and start to plan your franchise.
