THE BUZZ: Robert Bowling may have revealed the reason that he chose to leave Infinity Ward.
Speaking in multiple tweets, the former creative strategist said that he wishes to create something new and has a vision of what can be achieved by game developers at the moment.
“Back to back pitch meetings for the last 9 hours. Thanks to everyone who met up today, you’ve made me fall back in love with game design.”
“I’m in no rush. It’s about taking your time, finding something you’re passionate about. I want to fall in love with it again.”
“There’s far too many amazing things happening in our industry right now to be content spending life on just 1.”
“It’s the year of change Dean. Big budgets are no longer necessary for amazing gameplay experiences. Time to reconnect to our roots.”
EGM’s TAKE: We don’t believe that Bowling plans to go into game development, it appears as if he’s looking to help smaller companies who have big visions secure the funding that they require. Maybe he became disillusioned with what Infinity Ward and Activision were doing with Call of Duty, and wanted a chance to show what innovation can truly achieve in gaming. Why not wish him luck via his Twitter account below, we’re sure he would appreciate it.
