Robin Williams NPCs discovered in WoW: Warlords of Draenor files

It appears that Blizzard has stayed true to its word and will be immortalizing Robin Williams as an NPC in World of Warcraft, according to datamined files.

Wowhead.com, a World of Warcraft database, discovered three instances of an NPC called Robin the Entertainer in the Warlords of Darenor files. One of the NPCs takes the form of a Djinn, a nod to Williams’ role as the Genie in Aladdin, the second is a human male, which is speculated to be Mork, and the third is a human female, which is presumably representing his role as Mrs. Doubtfire.

Currently the models are not viewable in game, so it’s impossible to know how these NPCs will interact or where they will be placed. It’s speculated that the Djinn version will act as the main Robin the Entertainer NPC, turning into the other two variations to tell jokes.

Last week, when the news of Robin Williams’ death broke, World of Warcraft player Jacob Holgate created a petition on change.org asking Blizzard to add Williams to the game as an NPC.

“Because of his presence within our community, we the players of World of Warcraft are asking Blizzard to kindly create an NPC within the game that memorializes the actor/comedian,” Holgate wrote. “Many have expressed a wish to this character perform some of Williams best jokes within the Worlds End Tavern, so that he may continue making us smile long after his passing.”

Shortly after the petition was made, Chadd Nervig, Technical Game Designer on WoW, tweeted “Yes. We’re taking care of it.” This was later followed by a tweet from the official World of Warcraft account confirming that an NPC would be added: “@robinwilliams Thank you. You gave us so much joy in our lives, and we hope you enjoyed your time in our world. We’ll see you in-game.”
