Rock Band Blitz Adjusts Coin System For Easier Power-Up Purchases

Posted on September 6, 2012 AT 04:00pm

Harmonix has taken fan feedback on Rock Band Blitz and adjusted its in-game currency system, letting players more easily rack up coins needed to buy power-ups. If you’re fighting for high scores, that battle should be easier.

Here’s how the new payouts will change everything, as listed on Harmonix’s forums:

  • Cost of Power-ups:
    • Overdrive Power-ups: 250 coins per use
    • Note Power-ups: 200 coins per use.
    • Track Power-ups: 100 coins per use.
  • Song Performance Coin Rewards:
    • At the end of a song, you now get 100 Coins per Star across the board.
  • Score Wars:
    • Winners of Score Wars will now be receiving 1500 coins at completion.
    • Losers of Score Wars will now be receiving 500 coins at completion.

If you don’t use Facebook to further inflate your coin count, this adjustment will substantially cut down on grinding for players who specifically want to avoid any social media input.

Of course, this doesn’t address a key issue with the game (noted in our review), namely the fact that your song selection is drastically limited without DLC purchases though the Rock Band Network. At the very least, casual players can be a little more competitive while playing on less intense difficulty modes.
