Rockin’ Android Releases Japanese Indie Shooter Cloudphobia Via Expanded Digital Distributors

Posted on April 5, 2013 AT 12:17pm

While indie gaming in the West has become big both in terms of exposure and market, many on our shores still aren’t familiar with all of the great games coming out of the Japanese indie development scene.

That’s where companies like Rockin’ Android come in. Established in 2008, the publisher specializes in releasing Japanese doujin games in English, and has brought titles such as Acceleration of Suguri X, Crescent Pale Mist, and the Gundemonium Collection to shooter fans on both the PC and PS3.

Today, Rockin’ Android has expanded the release of their latest title, cloudphobia. Crafted by Marsbound—an independent game development studio in Japan—cloudphobia mixes the fun of piloting a giant robot with the pressure of having to defeat enemies and complete stages as quickly as possible. Gameplay is based around two primary weapons: the PLG-90 laser ignition rifle, and the Núllpunktur vibroblade sword.

Rockin’ Android originally released cloudphobia early last month, but to better serve PC-owning gamers, the company announced today that the game is now also available via Amazon, Desura, and Gamersgate. The folks at Rockin’ Android are also hoping to get cloudphobia through Steam’s Greenlight process—if you’d like to help in that, you can click here to do so.
