THE BUZZ: It appears that the Polyphony team is busy collecting track data for use in Gran Turismo 6.

A recent NeoGAF post reveals that the team is currently at the Mt. Panorama Motorsport Training center in Bathurst mapping the track for use in Gran Turimso 6.

The poster even managed to film a conversation (below) he had with a pair of photographers, who claim that the work is for Gran Turismo 6.

EGM’s TAKE: Of course it’s pretty hard to know how much truth is behind the post, but we are aware that the team is currently working on the next Gran Turismo title so collecting track data would be a logical thing to do. Based on how long it took to create Gran Turismo 5, we’re not expecting a sixth game to launch for quite some time yet. A logical move would be to develop it for the next-gen and have it as a launch title to attract fans. Given the average development time of these titles, however, make us not expect it until the well after the next gen launch.
