RUMOR: Bungie Using Halo: Reach Engine To Build Next-Gen Game

THE BUZZ: We all know that Bungie are hard at work on future projects, but could one of their upcoming games be a next-gen title built upon the Halo: Reach engine?
EGM’s TAKE: This rumor comes from UK publication PSM3, which makes the following statement:
“Built on the foundations of the Halo: Reach engine, it’ll be super-powered to take advantage of the next wave of hardware.”
Now, there’s a number of ways that we could take that rumor. One could be to say that they’re using the elements of Reach to work on a next-gen Halo title for Microsoft, one which expands upon the technology and gameplay aspects that were present in that engine.
Of course, we could also speculate that the game won’t be Halo-related at all, and that it’s just using that engine as a starting point tech-wise for whatever the project would end up being.
If this rumor is correct, what do you think Bungie would be using that Halo: Reach engine as a foundation for—a new Halo game, or something totally different?
