RUMOR: Crystal Dynamics Rebooting Soul Reaver

THE BUZZ: Crystal Dynamics is apparently working on a reboot of the Soul Reaver series, according to recent rumors.

VG247 has reported that it “has it on good authority” that the studio is looking to revive the classic series which could see an E3 reveal. Unfortunately no other details were mentioned.

The original Soul Reaver series was an offshoot of Legacy of Kain. In the series players controlled Raziel, a disgraced disciple of Kain, who aims to dethrone him as leader of the vampires.

EGM’s TAKE: I never really played much of this series bar a demo, however I do remember it being a major title back in the PSOne days that managed to amass a lot of fans. There will be many happy gamers if this rumor turns out to be true. It’s been a very long time since this series went into retirement and apart from a few PSN re-releases it has since remained dormant.
