RUMOR: Elder Scrolls MMO to be Revealed in May

THE BUZZ: Bethesda and Zenimax are set to announce an Elder Scrolls MMO in May, according to reports.
Industry sources have apparently told Tom’s Guide that The Elder Scrolls Online takes place in the ”Second Era” of the Elder Scrolls timeline, taking place several hundred years before any other games in the series and a full millennium before the events of Skyrim.
The game will have three playable factions according to the source, each represented by one of three animals: a lion, a dragon and a bird of prey.
EGM’s TAKE: The Elder Scrolls universe is a perfect fit for the MMO genre, the only issue we see is why would Bethesda make this choice. The MMO space is crowded enough as it is, and several major games are set to release in the next few months that could completely dwarf The Elder Scrolls. It just doesn’t make any sense to us. We’re not saying it wouldn’t be cool, it’s just odd.
