RUMOR: Gaming Accessory Company Accidentally Leaked Wii U Launch Date
Posted on August 27, 2012 AT 01:33pm
Videogames accessory maker Performance Designed Products is known for a wide variety of gaming peripherals—but today, PDP has also become known for being the company that may have leaked the Wii U’s release date.
According to various sources, during a presentation at the GameStop managers’ conference today, a representative for PDP was talking about their upcoming line-up of accessories and peripherals for Nintendo’s next platform. Unfortunately, the rep let a very important detail slip: Those Wii U accessories will be hitting on Sunday, November 18th.
Now, did they come out and directly declare that the Wii U will be launching on that date? No—but it seems strange that a peripheral company would be releasing a new line-up of products on a Sunday, unless that was the launch date of the system they’re for.
(Nintendo has a history of launching their releases on Sundays instead of Tuesdays, the typical day for new products in the gaming industry.)
We suspect that Nintendo will be officially unveiling the Wii U’s North American launch date and price at their upcoming September 13th event, but for now, placing bets on November 18th might not be a bad bet to make.
