Rockstar is set to release the PC version of Grand Theft Auto V early next year, according to a new report.
Multiple industry sources have informed Eurogamer that Rockstar’s open-world smash hit will make the jump from Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 to PC in the first quarter of 2014. Now the fact that Grand Theft Auto V is coming to PC isn’t a massive secret–everyone knows it will see an eventual release, despite Rockstar not officially saying so–the major question is, when will it arrive?
Grand Theft Auto IV released for consoles in April 2008, and was followed by a PC release in December 2008. I would expect Rockstar to follow a similar pattern with Grand Theft Auto V, which would put it around March/April 2014.
When Eurogamer asked Rockstar to comment on the rumor, the developer simply pointed them to its original statement regarding a PC version from back in July. ”The only versions of the game that we have announced are for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 which are set for a September 17th worldwide release,” it reads. “We don’t have anything to share about the possibility of a next-gen or a PC platform release at this time and we are completely focused on delivering the best possible experience for the consoles people have right now.”
