Video game news website Kotaku received a tip from a worker at GameStop that seems to hint at a feature of the current model of PS3 being removed from the upcoming hardware revision that has been talked about for week.
That feature? The ability to play video games or movies in high definition over component cables (aka the cables with the red-green-blue plugs). According to the GameStop memo, the “K” revision, as it’s being called, will only play back content in high definition over HDMI.
And, in typical GameStop fashion, the memo notes that this change will “also help you drive add-on sales.”
