UPDATE: A Deep Silver representative has since confirmed to Joystiq that there are plans to release a PlayStation 4 version of the game, but no development has started as of yet.
“It is no secret that 4A Games do want to release an SDK for Metro, finish the extremely promising multiplayer component and release this in some form, and investigate a PlayStation 4 version provided it makes commercial sense,” the representative told Joystiq. “Although no development has started on any next-gen console versions [of Metro: Last Light]. We have confirmed these hopes and ideas plenty of times before.”
“However, all these ideas are just ideas at the moment. It will be some time before we can officially commit to any of these projects or suggest when they might materialize. They genuinely might all happen, but equally none of them might happen. Anyone expecting Metro: Last Light as a PS4 launch game is probably going to be disappointed…”
ORIGINAL: 4A Games is planning to release a PlayStation 4 version of Metro: last Light, according to Ukrainian tech site ITCChannel.
Statements made by creative director Andrew Prokhorov were translated by a member of the game’s official forum and state that the developer is planning a PlayStation 4 port of the game. Prokhorav allegedly adds that the PS4 port will be bundled with a copy of Metro 2033.
A DLC season pass was also mentioned which will contain five bonus missions starring five different characters from the game. A separate multiplayer component was also teased which will release ”at least half a year after Metro: Last Light,” and will take the form of a downloadable title.
Deep Silver is yet to confirm this information, so take it with the usual pinch of salt for now.
