Sledgehammer Games is working on the next entry in the Modern Warfare series, according to one employee’s LinkedIn profile.
Senior VFX artist Rob Valdivia states that he’s “developing photo real visual effects for the next Call of Duty – Modern Warfare release” on his profile (which has since been removed, but can still be viewed here). Valdivia moved to Sledgehammer from PlayStation All-Stars developer SuperBot in April 2013.
Considering the fact that it says “next Call of Duty,” that seems to suggest that Modern Warfare 4 will be released next year, but does that mean that Infinity Ward will not be involved in this one at all–seeing as they are pretty busy with Ghosts, and it’s Treyarch’s turn to take point.
Many rumors were flying around earlier this year stating that Infinity Ward were working on Modern Warfare 4, but it turned out that its next title was actually Call of Duty: Ghosts set in a whole new universe.
As with all rumors, take this with a massive pinch of salt for now.
