Rumor: Next Xbox will be released sooner than planned, developers already have target specs for it and PS4

Posted on July 20, 2011 AT 02:30pm

Talk is growing louder about the next batch of consoles, and this time it’s Eurogamer chiming in, a source with a pretty respectable track record for these kinds of rumors.

According to them, a number of their sources have confirmed the long-running talk that Microsoft is preparing to unveil the next Xbox at E3 2012. The new rumor, however, is that plans for the console’s released have been moved up. Originally, the next Xbox was to hit in 2014, but those sources are now saying it’ll instead hit in 2013 – a move made in response to the unveiling of the Wii U.

Additionally, Eurogamer says that a number of sources have told them that “larger publishers and developers” not only have target specs for the next Xbox, but also the PlayStation 4, in order to help them in the building of games for the new systems.
