THE BUZZ: Sony is apparently confident that it can launch its next generation console before Microsoft according to sources.
A VG247 source claims that developers such as Ubisoft are already working on games for the console, and others have been invited to next-gen reveal events in May and June.
The consoles specifications were apparently nailed down last year and players will be able to use the PlayStation Vita as a controller.
“Sony is completely in the belief that they have the jump on Microsoft this time,” said the source. “You should be watching the timing of next year’s E3 keynotes, and who’s going to go first.”
“Top line publishers already know about it. Developers working with publishers – like Ubisoft, for example – already know what’s going on. They’re already working on it.”
EGM’s TAKE: More next-generation rumors to surface. It’s impossible to know what’s true and what isn’t with so many different versions of events making the rounds. Considering how late to the party Sony was this generation they won’t want to make the same mistake this time round, and will certainly be looking to jump in front of Microsoft in terms of announcements. However, whether it would risk jumping to early just to beat them is the major question. As we’ve seen from this current generation, going early and getting a good foothold can prove to be a very wise move.
Earlier today sources revealed new information on Microsoft next-generation console.
