RUMOR: Sony Partnering With Streaming Game Service for PS4?
Posted on May 24, 2012 AT 01:44pm

A very interesting comment has been made about a potential partnership between Sony and a cloud-based gaming service for some sort of new PlayStation project.
The comment comes from VG24/7, who had this to say while talking about what they expect at E3 2012:
“Apart from the partnership deal between PlayStation and a leading cloud gaming service, obviously.”
That’s a very curious statement to make. Could Sony be looking to partner with a service like OnLive or Gaikai to bring cloud-based game streaming to either the PS3 or PS4?
PlayStation 4 would probably make far more sense, and could certainly bring up some interesting possibilities. This might be a crazy idea, but what if the PS4′s backward compatibility was done through streaming? Instead of trying to run a PS3 game directly on the PS4, you’d instead stream the game via the cloud—where it wouldn’t matter if the PS4 itself could run PS3 games or not.
What do you think? Any interest in seeing Sony integrate some sort of cloud-based game streaming service in the next PlayStation?
