THE BUZZ: Nintendo’s latest handheld has already played host to a number of fighting game franchises—is it about to receive another?

EGM’s TAKE: According to enthusiast website Nintendo Life, a “retail insider” tipped the site off to the fact that SoulCalibur V has shown up on pre-order lists for the company.

Now, there have certainly been times when retailer information hasn’t been the most reliable source for breaking game announcements. And yet, at the same time, there have been an equal amount of games that have first been announced via such retailer lists.

So, is SoulCalibur V coming to the 3DS? I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if it didn’t in some capacity. Third party focus has really shifted away from the Wii at this point, so if developers want to capture the large segment of Nintendo fans out there, the 3DS is currently the main means to doing so. Also, look at just how many fighting games have come out for the 3DS—SoulCalibur V would be in perfect company.

I will also refrain from making any jokes about SoulCalibur‘s busty heroines and the potential benefits of 3D displays in viewing them. I’ll leave such comments to you loyal readers.

Would you like to see SoulCalibur V on the 3DS? Who should be the guest character for this version?
