THE BUZZ: The official Steam forums have apparently been hacked with links to the forums redirecting to a website called Fkn0wned.com, offering, ”hacking tutorials and tools, porn, free giveaways and much more.”
The forums are currently offline with a message that reads: ”The Steam Forums are temporarily offline for maintenance. Your patience is appreciated.” The website in questions has denied any responsibility for the attack, displaying the following message: ”Fkn0wned Forum is currently unavailable in lights of someone crediting us for the recent breaches of Steam forums, the board is offline. Fkn0wned is not responsible.”
Some users also reported receiving spam from the website. It should be known that user names and passwords are kept separate on the forums so accounts are not at risk.
EGM’s TAKE: Members shouldn’t worry if the forums were hacked due to their accounts not being at risk, but it would be good to discover who was responsible.
