Nintendo has been extremely quiet about the Nintendo Wii U’s launch plans, and despite a large amount of 3DS and DS announcements today, nothing’s been confirmed about the upcoming console. However, an insider source from a GameStop in New Jersey claims that Black Friday will be the launch date.

It’s part of endless speculation, but this latest rumor comes from GoNintendo, who says their source has the inside track on GameStop’s release plans for the Wii U.

Additionally, the source claims that pre-orders for the Wii U will start next week, which would hopefully mean that a price announcement would finally be coming up around that time.

Pricing is also an unknown right now, as various GameStop pre-order lists have ranged several titles anywhere from $39.99 to $99.99, with the later obviously being a price holder. Regardless, the launch window titles have at least been previously confirmed by a more official-looking leak from some GameStop promo materials.

Black Friday officially starts on November 23rd this year, which would be the official date if the rumor is accurate.

In 2006, Nintendo released the original Wii a little more than a week before Black Friday in North America.
