RuneScape Passes 200 Million Registered Users

Posted on July 20, 2012 AT 08:13am

RuneScape achieved something special today, it is now officially the first ever free-to-play MMO to surpass 200 million registered users. Now that’s impressive.

If Runescape were a country it would be the fifth most populated in the world, according to Jagex. Since the game began back in 2001, more than 443 billion hours have been poured into it by players. Everyday 150 dragons are killed, and every second, there are 10 LOLs and 27 deaths.

Every five-and-a half-weeks enough wood is chopped to build a bridge from the Earth to the moon, and every year eight billion fish are caught, enough to circle the Earth 20 times if put end-to-end.

To celebrate this milestone Jagax has added a new monster to the game with 200 million hit points, kill it and you will be rewarded with a unique item.
