A new batch of native Alolan Pokémon have been revealed for Pokémon Sun and Moon.
First up is Turtonator, the Fire/Dragon type with the unique move Shell Trap. Turtonator lays a trap at the beginning of the turn. If hit by a physical attack during that turn, the trap will explode and deal massive damage to Turtonator’s opponent.
Next is Crabrawler, which is?as you might have guessed?a crab that’s always ready for a brawl. With boxing-glove esque claws, the Fighting type crab can sport either the Hyper Cutter or Iron Fist ability.
Sandygast and Palossand were revealed in a Corocoro scan a few weeks ago, but this is the first time we’ve heard the sandcastle-shaped Ghost/Ground type’s English names. Both evolutions sport the brand new Water Compaction ability, allowing the Pokémon’s Defense stat to raise by 2 if hit by a Water-type move. Also, as per Ghost-Pokémon tradition, Sandygast now has some pretty creepy flavor text?any kids who grab the shovel on its head will fall under Sandygast’s control and be manipulated into gathering sand to increase the size of the Sandygast. Even a small soupçon of sand will increase Sandygast’s power, and Palossand are able to control full adults.
Finally, there’s Stufful, the Normal/Fighting pre-evolution of Bewear. Stufful can share Bewear’s unique new ability, Fluffy?they’ll take half damage from attacks that make direct contact, but will take double damage from Fire-type moves.
Pokémon Sun and Moon release on November 18th, exclusively for the 3DS.
