When Ubisoft announced Splinter Cell: Blacklist at E3 back in June, longtime fans of the stealth franchise were a little concerned by what they saw. The demo showed super-spy Sam Fisher opting for an over-the-top run-and-gun approach, complete with airstrikes explosions.
Now, in an effort to assure the skeptics that the cloak and dagger will still play a big role in Blacklist, Ubisoft has released an alternative playthrough of the E3 demo showcasing a stealthier approach to the level. This time around, the emphasis is squarely on avoiding confrontation by exploring alternate paths, sneaking past guards, and stashing bodies out of sight.
While it’s comforting to know that stealth will still be an option in Blacklist, this video really makes it clear why they’ve chosen to showcase the more action-y features up to now. For as much as I love playing stealth games, it’s just really hard to make footage of someone waiting patiently for a guard to turn around very exciting.
