Sony Computer Entertainment Sends Off Kaz Hirai With A Very Special PS3

Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. held a special going away party for former SCEI chairman Kaz Hirai recently, treating the gaming executive to a one-of-a-kind gift. Seen in the photo above, Kaz Hirai is returning to the Sony mothership with a special edition PlayStation 3 that you won’t find for sale anywhere else.
As SCEI president Shuhei Yoshida notes, the PS3 unit is custom made by SCEI itself, with a red and white (silver?) color palate that should look just dandy in Hirai’s office.
(Although, to me, it kind of looks like a Super Nintendo.)
Kaz Hirai, formerly the chairman and director of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., gave up those titles to fully commit to his position as CEO of the Sony umbrella. Although the change in position supposedly frees up his time to focus on more non-PlayStation products, the shift also comes with a huge 24-percent pay cut, plus the loss of control of Sony’s board of directors.
