Nintendo wants you to stop by their gaming lounge at San Diego Comic-Con, where they have the upcoming 3DS XL paired with New Super Mario Bros. 2, just waiting for you to play it. Sure, it doesn’t have the second analog stick it so sorely begs for, but why not take a look for yourself?
Nintendo’s Kit Ellis has a brief walk-through where he showcases the larger device, detailing its form factor. When you put the two side by side, the original 3DS just looks tiny.
Even though I’m never buying one—not even for Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, I have principles!—even I can appreciate the fact that it looks like an actual gaming system and not a prototype. It’s a small wonder what a few changes to the coloring and casing can do.
Want to see it? Nintendo’s gaming lounge is open to the public all weekend at the San Diego Mariott Marque and Marina, next to the Comic-Con Convention Center. Yes, you’ll have to leave the Comic-Con floor. Good luck pulling yourself away from the crowd if you’re already there and somehow reading this.
