SDCC 2012: PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Adds Cole MacGrath, Jak & Daxter

Posted on July 15, 2012 AT 05:46pm

PlayStation’s latest addition to their Super Smash Bros.-esque title probably doesn’t surprise Sony fans too much, as Infamous‘ Cole MacGrath joins the roster of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, along with Jak and Daxter. Sony made the announcement at San Diego Comic-Con with two new trailers and a new teaser trailer showcasing both characters.

So far, the roster now includes 12 fighters in total:

  • Kratos (God of War)
  • Nathan Drake (Uncharted)
  • PaRappa the Rapper
  • Sly Cooper
  • Sweet Tooth (Twisted Metal)
  • Fat Princess
  • Big Daddy (BioShock)
  • Radec (Killzone 2)
  • Heihachi (Tekken)
  • Toro (PlayStation Japan)
  • Cole MacGrath (Infamous)
  • Jak & Daxter

Cole MacGrath brings his weaponry and more advanced electric/cryokinetic powers from Infamous 2 with him, including his trademark “Amp” melee bat. His Level 3 “Super Art” move looks damn near difficult to avoid as well—with the right amount of juice, Cole can whip up an Ionic Vortex, sweeping it across the level to rack up kills.

Jak & Daxter, the only dual-entry in the game so far, appear to be more focused on ranged attacks and weapon-spamming, as they make use of weapons like Jak’s Needle Laser and Mass Inverter. Their super move can turn Jak into his “Light” and “Dark” forms from their respective games, and in the case of latter, Dark Jak looks like a gamebreaker.

Anyone taking bets on whether Spyro the Dragon takes a spot on the roster? Or maybe Aya Brea from Parasite Eve will be revealed first? And why hasn’t Crash Bandicoot been announced yet? Is Sony ashamed of him or something?
