SDCC 2012: Sonic Adventure 2 Racing To PSN, XBLA This Fall
Posted on July 15, 2012 AT 11:34am
Another Dreamcast-era Sonic title is getting a modern console re-release, as Sega’s announced that Sonic Adventure 2 is coming to the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade. This was previously hinted at when a listing for the game was spotted on Xbox.com (and later pulled from the U.S. region’s site), so it’s not a total surprise.
Sega made the announcement at their Sonic Boom event during San Diego Comic-Con to a crowd of particularly zealous fans. (As you see from the footage below, people were practically falling over themselves with joy.)
Sega’s previously re-released the first Sonic Adventure for download, with the porting duties handled by their Shanghai studio. However, the straight port was marred with problems, more glaring of which including the controls not being adjusted or updated to compensate for the game’s age.
Hopefully, such an issue is addressed with this release, as it’s likely to be an HD remake rather than a straight port. Honestly, Sega should do the remake treatment with both Sonic Adventure games. What you do think, Sonic fans? Are you excited to relive the debut of Shadow the Hedgehog?
