Marvel vs Capcom

Spider-Man and Frank West might have been the stars of the show for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite at San Diego Comic-Con 2017, with a new trailer that debuted during the Marvel Games panel featuring them facing off against Nemesis from Resident Evil and Hagger from Final Fight. However, the actual Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite panel might have confirmed the Hunter from Monster Hunter as a playable character.

During the SDCC panel, writer Paul Gardner revealed three of the game’s merged worlds: Xgard, which is a combination of Thor’s Asgard and Mega Man X‘s Abel City; Knowmoon, which combines Knowhere from Guardians of the Galaxy and the Third Moon from Strider; and Valkanda, which merges Wakanda and Val Habar.

It’s the last location that makes us think the Hunter will be a playable character. Wakanda is Black Panther’s home in the Marvel universe, and Val Habar is a location from Monster Hunter 4, meaning that the previously-rumored Hunter character is likely to appear in the game.

On top of the panel announcement, Marvel is reportedly publishing a one-off comic that ties into the game’s story as an exclusive for retailer Gamestop. The comic’s story will focus on the formation of Valkanda, which will be useful in establishing a personality for the Monster Hunter character.

Given that Black Panther was assumed to be a DLC character, it’s interesting that his hometown should be featured so prominently in the game’s promotional materials. That, and the fact that he’s apparently already included in the game’s files, could mean that Black Panther will be playable when the game launches September 19th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

That being said, if he's a fanboy, he's a fanboy for the game industry as a whole. Spit white-hot fanboy hate at him, trash talk his Gold II rank on Rocket League, or maybe just send him a cordial hello on Twitter @gogogoroff.

SDCC panel may have confirmed another MvC: Infinite character

Sure, Spider-Man's great and all, but he doesn't hunt dinosaurs.
