Sea of Thieves

Rare spent the summer dropping more content into Sea of Thieves, and the game already has a new expansion on the way.

Dubbed Shrouded Spoils, this next expansion pack is expected to release in November. We won’t get the full details until November 10th, when Rare will give a talk on the future of Sea of Thieves at Microsoft’s X018 Xbox convention, but a recent developer talk video has given us a few ideas of what to expect.

Described as a “collection of content and features,” Shrouded Spoils will greatly extend ship customization, letting players change out the wheel and other individual parts. The game world will have an all-new weather effect with fog, hiding the world below the crow’s nest and making traversal over both land and sea more mysterious and eerie.

Additionally, Pirate Legends will get more goals, new things for the most hardcore players to work towards and achieve once they’ve unlocked most of the other content in the game.

“It’s really just a collection of a bunch of stuff that we’ve pulled together based on feedback, based on stuff people have been asking us for,” said executive producer Joe Neate.

We’ll learn more details on November 10th, when the Sea of Thieves developers speak at X018.
