A new update for Sea of Thieves brings the Gunpowder Skeleton event to an end and signals the beginning of the Sunken Curse event.
“Rumors of artifacts beneath the waves are being whispered across the Outposts, and as usual the Bilge Rats already know all about it,” the event’s description reads. “Underwater statues and dangerous curses are amongst their tavern tales, so take a deep breath before diving into this Bilge Rat Adventure!”
For the next week, players will find Cursed Mermaid Statues hidden in the shallows around island shores. Players must seek out and destroy these statues for the Bilge Rats to earn Bilge Rat Doubloons. These Doubloons can be used to purchase the hat, dress and jacket of The Wailing Barnacle, and a new flag.
Other changes in this update include the addition of the Wailing Barnacle Tattoo Set, improved loading screens, updated pirate animations, and a new UI banner has been added to Commendations within the Bilge Rat progress screen.
