UPDATE: Telltale has cleared up some confusion regarding the release date of The Walking Dead Season 2. It turns out that the date given by CEO Dan Connors was a mistake and the actual date is fall of this year.

“The current estimated release window for Season Two of The Walking Dead is for fall of ‘this’ year (2013), and not ‘next’ year (2014) as has been reported after a recent interview,” the developer told Game Informer. “We apologize for any confusion and thank you and all of our fans for your continued excitement for Telltale’s series.”

The original story can be found below.

Fans looking forward to season 2 of Telltale’s The Walking Dead have got an awful long wait ahead of them after the developer revealed that it is aiming for a fall 2014 release.

“We’re aiming for fall next year,” studio co-founder and CEO Dan Connors told Eurogamer last night at the BAFTAs. That’s a pretty long time, but it’s not all doom and gloom. Walking Dead writer Gary Whitta revealed recently that “there may very well be more Walking Dead from Telltale before season two. We may have a little something extra for you between season one and two.”

“He’s been sacked. We threw him into the zombie pit,” Connors joked when asked about the tease before adding. “We’ll probably have something to announce fairly soon about what we’re going to do. It’ll be different.”

With a release date that far out we can expect the next season to be released on next generation consoles. I just hope that there aren’t any issues with transferring save files across to use choices from season one.
