Second Call of Duty: Ghosts DLC arriving on Xbox One and Xbox 360 April 3

Posted on March 6, 2014 AT 11:04am

Call of Duty: Ghosts’ second multiplayer expansion pack, Devastation, will debut on Xbox One and Xbox 360 April 3, Microsoft announced today.

Like the previous Onslaught DLC release, Devastation adds four new maps—Ruins, Behemoth, Collision, and Unearthed—a new weapon with two configurations, and the second Extinction episode, “Mayday.”

Ruins is described as a “mountaintop Mayan ruin overrun by the jungle,” the appropriately named Behemoth is set entirely on a bucket-wheel excavator (a massive digging machine used for open pit mining), Collision is a mishmash of wreckage from the New York bridge and a cargo ship, and Unearthed is an alien dig site inspired by Modern Warfare 3’s Dome.

Devastation’s new weapon, meanwhile—the Ripper—is equipped with a medium- to short-range SMG and medium- to long-range assault rifle configurations.

As for the new Extinction episode, it picks up where Episode 1: “Nightfall” left off on the high-tech ghost ship in the South Pacific and will introduce two new Cryptid alien types: the wall-crawling Seeder and the “skyscraper-sized monstrosity” aptly named, though a tad uninspired, Kraken.

No release dates for Devastation’s PS3, PS4, and PC releases have been provided yet, but if it follows the same pattern as Onslaught, they’ll come roughly one month later, so around the first week of May.
