Sony’s pretty much lost control of roster reveals for PlayStation All-Stars, but that isn’t stopping them from promoting new additions to the cast. Raiden gets the latest reveal, complete with a gameplay demo.
As shown in the video below from GameSpot, Raiden is a combo-focused character who’s more tailored towards isolating and chipping away at single enemies, says developer Seth Killian.
Raiden’s Level 3 “Super Art” is also shown off, where activating it drops all players-on screen into hiding within cardboard boxes. From there, a single hit kills them off, also some boxes will be empty.
Generally, Raiden controls similar to the way he would in Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, so if you’re hopping back and forth between games, you won’t need to major re-adjust. In total, Raiden’s got a few dozen different combos, and can use them to quickly rack up long strings of attacks.
(Check out the video below and see how Raiden stacks up against Spike, Sackboy, and Ratchet/Clank in-game.)
Even the slice-and-dice stance is mimicked in Raiden’s moveset as a Level 1 Super Art “as closely as the publishers would allow,” although opponents definitely won’t suddenly turn into chunks of dismembered, bloody meat.
