Sega Digs Into Retro Pile, Ports Crazy Taxi To iPhone, iPad Devices

Posted on October 8, 2012 AT 01:15pm

Proving that no franchise is too old to make money off Apple customers, Sega is porting their popular Crazy Taxi to iOS. Interestingly enough, the trailer has some of the original music in it.

As seen in the trailer below, the brief snippet of gameplay is punctuated by  Offspring’s “All I Want,” just one of many tracks that wasn’t present in the HD re-release for PSN and XBLA.

Least we all get our hopes up, the trailer is short enough that Sega might have just used the music under “fair use” terms.

But if they somehow got the rights backs to all the original music from the arcade and Dreamcast versions?

That makes it worth whatever they want to charge—well, within reason, I mean.

It’s highly unlikely that you’ve never played or seen Crazy Taxi before, as the game’s been ported to GameCube, Xbox, PC, PlayStation 2, Gameboy Advance, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. Regardless, it’s out this month.
