Sega has been on a roll as of late in bringing back some of their most beloved classics, and they’ve announced that they’ll do it again with the legendary Saturn release NiGHTS into dreams…
I still remember playing the original version of NiGHTS on my trusty Saturn after it was released. It was still at a point when companies were trying new things with the idea of how 3D games should work, and NiGHTS felt flesh, unique, and unusual. It was kind of a platformer (but you were flying in parts), and it was kind of a racing game, but it was also kind of a trick-based game. That difficulty in defining exactly what it was was part of what made NiGHTS so intriguing.
This new HD remake of NiGHTS into dreams… will be coming this fall to the Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, and Windows PC. In addition to remastered 16:9 HD visuals, the game will also now include leaderboards, trophies, achievements, and a selectable “Saturn Mode”, so players can live (or relive) the original version of the game.
“The SEGA Saturn offered many unique gaming experiences, and NiGHTS into dreams… stands out as one of the most recognizable titles that found a home on the system,” said Sega’s vice president of digital business Chris Olson as part of the announcement. “We’ve gotten a lot of requests about this game over the years, and are very happy to be able to give both former Saturn owners and new players a chance to play it in its most beautiful form to date this fall.”
