Shadowrun: Dragonfall standalone director’s cut coming to PC this September

Posted on July 28, 2014 AT 10:30am

A standalone, director’s cut version of Shadowrun Returns’ first expansion, Dragonfall, will launch in September, developer Harebrained Schemes announced.

According to series creator Jordan Weisman, Harebrained Schemes co-founder Mitch Gitelman, and Dragonfall director Mike McCain, the studio will announce the standalone version Shadowrun: Dragonfall properly next month, presumably during Gamescom. Little else was revealed about the project, other than that they’d be “making it better” by incorporating player feedback and “adding new stuff.”

Dragonfall’s standalone version will be free to anyone who backed the Shadowrun Returns Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign or purchased the Dragonfall expansion by July 25.

Shadowrun Returns was successfully funded on April 28, 2012. Though the original goal was $400,000, the cyberpunk-fantasy RPG went on to rake in $1,836,447 in funding. Dragonfall launched earlier this year, in February, across Windows PC, Mac, and Linux.
