Shadowrun Returns Berlin Expansion Titled Dragonfall, Adds New Save System

Posted on November 19, 2013 AT 11:17am

Shadowrun Returns‘ Berlin-based post-launch expansion has been officially named Shadowrun: Dragonfall, developer Harebrained Schemes announced today in a press release detailing the add-on.

“I’m delighted that our Kickstarter Backers chose Berlin as the location for our next big expansion,” Harebrained Schemes founder Jordan Weisman said. “It’s the perfect setting to show off all the new gameplay and features we’ve added in this expansion. Our design team has done a fantastic job of building on the work we started with Shadowrun Returns. I couldn’t be happier.”

Dragonfall will, of course, add new environments (being set in a new city and all) to accompany its full-length campaign, which revolves around “a long-forgotten event from the earliest days of the Awakened world.” The expansion will also bring new characters, weapons, cyberware, and enemies (including a long-range sniper rifle, grenade launch, and stun-inducing taser), and address one of the biggest criticisms lobbied against Shadowrun Returns by introducing a new save system that allows players to save at any time. This save system will be added into the the original Shadowrun Returns “Dead Man’s Switch” campaign as well.

The Shadowrun game editor will also gain some new features alongside Dragonfall, including a better scripting system for lighting control and access to all of the Berlin art assets.

Shadowrun: Dragonfall launches on Windows PC, OS X, and Linux through Steam and GOG January 2014. Android and iPad versions are slated for release later.
