THE BUZZ: The kickstarter for Shadowrun Returns has now ended, and the results are unbelievable.
The project’s original goal was $400,000, at closing total donations reached $1,895,772.
“A-freaking-mazing! Wowsers! Bibbidy-bobbidy-boo!” exclaimed developer Harebrained Studios. “We are so happy to be associated with such a wonderful community.”
The game will be developed for PC, Mac, iPad and Android tablets. More details about the title can be found here.
EGM’s TAKE: Yet another raging success for a Kickstarter project. It is fast becoming the number one place for developers to secure finance for games. It’s a fantastic idea because it gets people interested in your game, they feel they have a major part in it’s creation. Developers manage to create communities for their games before they even begin development. This is invaluable in terms of a game’s success. A strong community can go a long way. Hopefully more developers will take their imaginative creations to the site.
