Shantae: Half-Genie Hero is coming to PS3, PS4, and PS Vita in 2014, WayForward creative director Matt Bozon confirmed today in a post on the PlayStation Blog.

WayForward’s Kickstarter-funded platformer reached its $400,000 funding goal on September 23. With two days remaining on its funding period, Half-Genie Hero has gone on to receive an addition $194,211 in pledges, bringing the total funding amount to $594,211 and adding two stretch goals to the game: “Risky Mode,” in which players assume the role of Shantae’s arch nemesis, Risky Boots, and a bonus chapter that includes a new transformation.

If Shantae: Half-Genie Hero reaches $700,000 in funding, developer WayForward will add new costume swaps that rebalance stats and add special moves.

“The game is described as a ‘fresh start for the series, making it an ideal entry point for new players,” Bozon wrote on the PlayStation Blog. “Half-Genie Hero is humorous, flirtatious, and like many WayForward games takes an off-the-wall approach to boss and character design.”

Half-Genie Hero marks the first Shantae game to leave handheld consoles. The series first debuted with Shantae on Game Boy Color, moved to DSi with Risky’s Revenge, and has a third, 3DS installment coming winter 2013 titled Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse.
