Sega has announced that Shenmue and Shenmue II will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC from August 21st, 2018.

The upcoming rereleases are described as the “definitive version” of the games with fully scalable screen resolution options, the choice of modern or classic control schemes, numerous PC graphics options, an updated user interface, and the option to play the game using either the original Japanese or English voiceovers.

“Since their original releases, Shenmue I & II have established a passionate following and are revered as one of gaming’s greatest series of all time,” Sega said. “These revolutionary masterpieces deliver a gripping story of retribution as Ryo Hazuki sets out to avenge his father’s death and attempts to unravel the secrets behind a mysterious artifact known as the Dragon Mirror.”

Shenmue and Shenmue II are available to pre-order now digitally on all three platforms at a 10 percent discount. A physical edition is also available to pre-order for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 that comes with a double-sided poster starring fan-favorite characters from the series.

The third entry in the series, Shenmue III, was recently pushed back to 2019.
