Shenmue World’s World Ends

Posted on January 2, 2012 AT 01:47pm

THE BUZZ: Remember Shenmue World, the online social game based around Yu Suzuki’s epic Shenmue franchise? Wait, what do you mean “no”?

Actually, it’s quite likely that you don’t—Shenmue World was launched on Japanese mobile gaming platforms (aka cellphones) back in December 2010, but never got the PC browser-based version that was promised.

Well, it now doesn’t matter if you ever knew about it or not, as Japanese gaming site Andriasang reports that the game’s developer Ysnet has announced that Shenmue World has now officially come to and end.

EGM’s TAKE: So, what’s better: No Shenmue at all, or Shenmue existing as some strange “mobile social” game only for cellphones? I’ve got to be honest—if those are my options, I might choose the first.
