As part of this morning’s announcements from Nintendo, a number of revelations both expected and unexpected came along for the ride. One thing nobody could ever have foreseen, however, was a particular game being co-developed with Atlus.

Yes, as I type the words “Shin Megami Tensei meets Fire Emblem”, I still can’t believe those are actual words. With little more than a teaser video and a known platform—the Wii U—the worlds of Nintendo and Intelligent System’s Fire Emblem and Atlus’ Shin Megami Tensei will be coming face-to-face in what one can only imagine to be some sort of super-SRPG.

I… am not sure how I feel. Well, I mean, I feel like I’m not interested in the idea. Of course I adore anything and everything Shin Megami Tensei from Atlus, and through my playing of Fire Emblem: Awakening, I’m also coming to really enjoy that series as well. It’s just, crazy cross-overs are something that really don’t pique my interest—unless we’re talking fighting game cross-overs that have some logical slant to them. (Even stuff like Marvel vs. Capcom or Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe were too out-there for me.)

I am quite sure that whatever game comes from this collaboration will be something of unquestionable quality. Still, I don’t know that it’ll be something I’ll be waiting to play.

Have any opinions on the idea of a Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem cross-over? Speak your mind in the comments below!
