Side-scrolling Beat ‘Em Up Final Exam Hitting PS3 through PSN November 5

Posted on October 24, 2013 AT 11:31am

Final Exam, a downloadable side-scrolling beat ‘em up for PS3, is coming to PSN November 5, developer Mighty Rocket Studio announced today.

Formerly known as Obscure, Final Exam features four playable characters—Brutal Joe, Cassy, Nathan, and Sean—who simultaneously represent high school archetypes (jock, cheerleader, geek, handsome bad boy) as well as standard videogame classes. Each character can be upgraded throughout the game, with various skills that have 4 power levels each.

According to Mighty Rocket Studio’s CEO Francois Potentier, Final Exam takes place across 8 missions that clock in at 30- to 45-minutes each and will contain a standard, solo single-player, local co-op, and online multiplayer.

Check out the teaser video embedded below to get a feel for the gameplay. Watching it myself, I feel like this game would appeal to anyone who ever wished Left 4 Dead could be a side-scroller beat ‘em up instead of a first-person shooter/survival title.

Final Exam hits PS3 through PSN November 5, priced at $9.99.
