THE BUZZ: Devin Shatsky, Producer on Silent Hill: Downpour, has stated that the game will return back to the survival horror series’ roots.

“Definitely Silent Hill 2,” he said when asked which Silent Hill game Downpour most resembled. “Downpour has a standalone story that’s not tied to any other Silent Hill game, so it’s taking the broader concept back to its roots.”

“Silent Hill 2 was one of the big fan favorites in the series, so we took elements that were appealing in that game and integrated them here,” he added.

EGM’s TAKE: Survival Horror games have lost that scare factor that used to keep people engrossed in titles for days, hopefully Downpour can recapture some of that magic.
